What type of content do you post on ChannelBV?
We welcome submissions from any and all Buena Vistans, both legitimately local and those local at heart. This site belongs to you. We do, however, reserve the right to wave our editorial decision making wand here and there both from the practical standpoint that we receive far more daily submissions then we have space for but also to maintain quality control and an aspired sense of balance in view and content.
That being said, we welcome submissions that have content that is directly related to the Buena Vista community. There is certainly room for interpretation here, but for the most part that means local events, issues both local and global, things to do, outdoor adventure, arts and culture, sports, social, environmental, and political issues, etc.
If you choose to submit topics that are potentially polarizing or controversial, please offer other links to different perspectives on the same topic. Our intention is to offer balanced viewpoints that can then be open to community discussion – that should be yours too.
How do I submit a story to ChannelBV?
Click on the submit a story button in the navigation bar near the top of the screen. On this page you will find a form to fill out.
A few key points to be aware of:
1. Please use the ‘submit a story‘ form. We do not accept submissions sent to us via email.
2. Use a descriptive, concise title for the topic. 3. Write up an insightful scoop about the topic you are referring to. Speak directly to the reader and tell us why you think we should read this. Please use good grammar and, by all means, check your spelling!
4. Double and triple check all links that are included in your topic. If a link doesn’t work, it will be impossible to post your story.
How do I know if my story has been accepted or rejected?
After you have submitted your story using the form you will see a page that confirms that your submission was received. After that, the story will be posted to ChannelBV if it was accepted. On rare occasions, we may contact you for more information before deciding to post the story.
How do I submit an advertisement?

How do I submit an event for the calendar?
We accept submissions for events up to six months in advance but only post events once they are within four weeks of occuring.
Go to the calendar page. At the bottom you will see a form. Fill it out and click “submit” just below the form. Your event will then be sent to us for approval. If we have any questions we will contact you, otherwise, look for your event to appear on the calendar usually within 24 hours. Recurring events (such as a book club meeting) are welcome. However, they may be listed in the calendar on the first recurrance only (eg book club meets every 3rd tuesday at the library etc….).
May I submit a press release about my business or non-profit organization?
We have created the press release page so that businesses and non-profits in the area can communicate newsworthy happenings about themselves. To send us your press release, use the submit a story form and be sure to include a link to your website.
